Silpoly Advantages: Silpoly offers several advantages, particularly in the DST configuration, where it saves approximately three ounces compared to our 6.6 Nylon DST Tarp. It also provides lower moisture adsorption, experiences less sag when wet, and maintains slightly better UV resistance.
Silpoly Disadvantages: One of the disadvantages of Silpoly is also its reduced stretch, which demands more precise pitching, especially in uneven terrain. Sil-Poly also has lower tear and puncture resistance comparatively to our 6.6 Nylon, which may shorten the products usable lifespan.
20D Silpoly is ideal for 3 season use in smaller shelters. For harsh weather environments, we recommend our 30D Cordura spec 6.6 Nylon DST.
