    OVERVIEW:

The Cimarron is a lightweight and durable 4 person pyramid-style tipi tent designed to last and withstand all weather conditions. Its rectangular design and single pole pitch makes the Cimarron easy to set up and easy to use in the backcountry. This 4 person tent refines the classic design of the tipi tent with more usable space, giving you more room with a smaller footprint. The cimarron hot tent comes standard with a stove jack, making it perfect for a hunting tent, winter camping tent, or family camping trips.

Named 'Best Non-Freestanding 4-Season Tent' and 'Best Hot Tent for Backpacking' by OutdoorLife.com in 2025, the Cimarron delivers unmatched four-season performance and lightweight versatility for serious backcountry explorers.

    The legend Redefined

This is the shelter we wish we could have built when we started. After 15 years of making tents, the 2.0 upgrades are a culmination of everything we've learned about creating tents that perform year after year

What's new with 2.0 shelters? We have refined the patterns to reduce sag and get a tighter pitch, added more reinforced guy-out points for more head room and weather resilience, and added awesome accessory options, like our popular floor liner system. If you have questions about backwards compatibility with older Cimarron models and accessories, shoot us an email at info@seekoutside.com

    Built for Generations in Colorado
Each Cimarron is handcrafted in Colorado using techniques refined over 15 years of shelter building. With a lifetime warranty and proven durability, this tent represents just $0.16 per day over 10 years of reliable use ($585 with carbon pole) - significantly less than replacing inferior tents every few seasons.

    PITCHING:

    1. Choose where you want to sleep and where you want the door to be.
    2. Stake the corners of the shelter in a rectangle shape, ensuring that the angles are as square and true as possible. Avoid overstretching the fabric to prevent a bell-shaped bottom that reduces interior space.
    3. Make sure the vent and stovejack are open or closed as desired before raising the pole, as they may be harder to reach once the pole is up.
    4. Insert the pole and raise the shelter.
    5. Stake out the doors.

    SEAM SEALING:

For best results we recommend seam-sealing your tent.  You can do it at home or have us do it for you
    1. To seal the shelter, pitch it normally and seal the outside seams.
    2. You can run a thin bead of sealant along the seam, press it in with a finger, and wipe away excess on a paper towel.
    3. Alternatively, you can use an acid brush from a hardware store to spread the sealant.

    INFO ON HOT TENTS:

    Temperature Rating
    • We use high temp silicone coated fiberglass material, rated to several thousand degrees, for the stove jack. The tent material never touches the hot pipe. If there are any pinholes from floating embers, they can be sealed with a small dab of silicone without damaging the shelter.

    FAQ: meow

    Q. Is the Cimarron a 4-season tent?

    A. Yes, the Cimarron is a true 4-season tent featuring a stable pyramid design, reinforced guy-out points, and a sod skirt that earned it OutdoorLife.com's "Best Non-Freestanding 4-Season Tent" recognition in 2025.

Q: How many people can fit in the Cimarron tent?

A:  The Cimarron is designed for comfortable, generous spacing—sleeping 4 full-size adults with gear (not sardine-style packing). Without a stove, it provides ample room for four campers and their equipment. When using a wood stove, it comfortably fits 2 adults + gear while maintaining proper safety clearance around the hot stove. Unlike many brands that overstate capacity for small adults or minimal gear, the Cimarron prioritizes livable space.

Q: Is the Cimarron a good hunting tent?

A: The Cimarron makes an excellent hunting tent with its included stove jack for heating, stable wind-resistant design, sod skirt for insulation, and lightweight 3-pound-7-ounce pack weight that's ideal for backcountry hunts.

Q: How does the Cimarron compare to other pyramid tents?

A: The Cimarron stands out with its rectangular floor plan for more usable space, ultralight yet durable construction, and stove-ready design, plus it's handmade in Colorado with upgraded reinforcements for better performance.

Q: What is the best 4-person pyramid tent for backpacking?

A: The Cimarron sets the standard for lightweight performance at just 2 pounds 7 ounces (canopy only) when pitched with trekking poles (39oz), or 3 pounds 7 ounces complete with carbon pole and stakes. This unbeatable weight-to-space ratio comes without sacrificing durability - using 30D Nylon 6.6 Ripstop fabric that's 33% more abrasion-resistant than standard nylon, making it OutdoorLife.com's 2025 "Best Hot Tent for Backpacking."

Q: Can the Seek Outside Cimarron be used as a hot tent?

A: Yes, the Cimarron comes standard with a stove jack made from heat-resistant silicone-coated fiberglass, making it fully compatible with wood-burning stoves for winter camping and hunting trips.

Q: How does the Cimarron perform in high winds?

A: The pyramid shape naturally sheds wind, while the 10 reinforced guy-out points make for an extremely stable pitch that outperforms many dome tents in storm conditions.

Q: What size stove should I get with the Cimarron?

A: We recommend either the medium or large stove- available in both U-turn and standard models- with 6.5 feet of pipe. A little extra pipe is okay, but excessive stove pipe above the canopy of your tent can catch wind and might make your stove unstable.
