The Four Person Tipi is our smallest standing height floorless shelter.  The Four Person's tipi shape makes it extremely weather worthy, and the size makes a comfortable camp for one to four people.  Best uses include backpack hunts, pack animal camps, base camps, fly in camps, and winter camping.

This package includes a stove of your choice plus a half liner that effectively turns half the shelter into a double wall tent, eliminating condensation drips.

All of our gear uses the best fabrics and materials we can source, is made in-house by experts at their craft, and is backed by our outstanding warranty.

Pitch Instructions:

For detailed pitching instructions please read our detailed Pitch Instructions.

For detailed instructions on how to seal your Tipi, including detailed photos, read Tipi Seam Sealing Step by Step Guide

For best results we recommend seam-sealing your tent.  You can do it at home or have us do it for you (adds up to 1 week)(if we seal the shelter it will be shipped without extra tubes of sealant):

Seam Sealing Service

  • The Four Person Tipi Person includes enough seam sealer to seal the entire tipi with a tube left over.
  • Seal the outside seams, but do it from the inside - pitching the tipi inside out allows you to reach all of the seams.
  • The easy way to seal is to run a thin bead of sealant along the seam, then press it in with a finger, wiping the excess on a paper towel.
  • Alternatively, you can use an acid brush from a hardware store to spread the sealant.

The most common questions we get about hot tents are:

  • How do you not burn the tent down?
    • The stove jack is a high temp fiberglass material rated to several thousand degrees.  The tent material never touches the hot pipe.  You can get pinholes from floating embers, but a small dab of silicone seals the pinhole and doesn't hurt the shelter.
  • How does a floorless shelter work in wet weather?
    • Really darn well.  Don't pitch in a depression obviously, but the ground inside dries out quickly, and it's super convenient to just walk in with muddy shoes (or dogs) and not worry about getting your floor dirty.
  • What about condensation?
  • What about carbon monoxide?
    • It's truly not a concern.  We include a peak vent, plus the shelter will draw air through the zipper and under the sod skirt.  If you're still concerned, leave a door unzipped 8" or so at the bottom to allow more venting.

    4 Person tipi

Posted by Vince on 26th Mar 2019

Received my tipi last week, when to test it quickly in the wood. Overall very happy with product, i was impressed with the quality of the materiel and how light the whole thing his. I made a mistake setting it up i forgot to velcro the stove jack open so i burn some of the vercro part to the cheminy. No bit deal.
It was super warm in the tipi with just a little wood burning. The weather is kinda warmer now (northern Alberta) but I can’t wait to try it at very low temperatures. I would definitely recommend this product.

    4 man teepee bundle

    Love the tent
    Love the weight
But it falling apart and I have only had it since October of 2017
    The zippers are very weak
I understand that I use my gear a lot
This tent has been my home since about mid November
And I use it almost every night
    So far it is great
I have the large titanium stove and even in sub 0 temp it will run you out
The weak spots are the material that the flew runs through and the zippers
With the half liner in I tend to use one door the majority of the time and with the way the material expands and contracts with the weather it tends to put a lot of stress on the zipper
At this point after not yet 6 month of use the zipper no longer closes properly
Maybe this summer I will find the time to send it back and get it repaired but it is my home and doing without it even for a couple days would be very uncomfortable
Also the material that you run the stove pipe up through has become a bit ragged due to catching on the pipe edge and the rings used to hold the pipe in shape

Manufacturer Note: Customer was contacted and a replacement was offered as well as tips on the issues. Customer will swap out when they are not living in tent.

    Looks good, will test further

Posted by Royce on 6th Oct 2017

Set up tent and stove in yard to do the burn in on the stove. Easy to set up. It is a good idea to start by pegging the doors first so you do not stretch out other points too far and stress the zipper on the door and then have to re adjust the pegs. The damper on the stove came too loose to adjust so I had to buy a friction washer from the hardware store so it could be adjusted without falling closed. The stove has burned great and the 4 man has ample room for the stove and 2 men and their gear. Had an early season snow storm and some good winds and the tent held up well. I will seal the seams this week and then set up Elk camp at the end of the month for 3 or 4 days and really put it to a test. I really like how light weight it is. Also it might not be a bad idea to put a slight cross break on the stoves 3 sides, other than door side, and the bottom just to add a little durability to the metal.

Why in the heck are the reviews all caps! Makes it very hard to read, bad UX design

First off my intended uses are: Snowshoe and XC skiing while pulling a pulk as well as Overland car-camping in our vehicles. Weight and bulk is not an issue. Bullet-proof warm gear for my family is the main criteria. We mainly are in the Alleghenies and Adirondacks, that means lake effect snow and maybe temps down to 0F

    0. I have the small stove. I can see why people might want the large. I don't need it. My family all run pretty good sleep bags, so I only need the stove to take the dampness and chill out a bit. I would never want to be in a situation where I had to have the stove running in order to maintain thermo-regulation.

    1. The stove is difficult to roll only the first time. Make sure you "set it" by doing a hot burn. After that it is very easy to roll up and unroll. Very smart design.

    2. Seam seal your tent.

    3. I'm giving 4 stars because on my very first use the winds were gusty. This caused the stove jack flap to come loose from the velcro and have the edge of the flap lay across the pipe and end up melting. It is a cosmetic issue.

    4. I run the tent along with a silnylon tarp. The gear goes under the tarp. There is plenty of room for 4 people with no gear. I think if the gear was inside, 3 would be the max.

    5. Patching silnylon is kinda hard, I like that the seekoutside make it clear you can send the tent in for repairs and what is covered and what is not. I expect to mess the thing up so I is nice to know there is customer support out there.

    Lovin life

I was so excited to get this thing, everything arrived earlier than expected.

    The quality seems top notch.

Ive only been able to sleep in it once and it worked great. Easy to set up, easy to take down.

The only thing, I wish i upgraded to the large stove. The medium is tiny. My fault. Although the large wont be much bigger i wish i had gone with that.

    Second Review

Posted by Todd on 3rd Aug 2016

I just returned from a weekend trip and thought I would submit a follow up review. I have purchased the 4 man tipi bundle. I can't say enough about this tipi. Set up is very slick and easy. I did have to readjust the pegs after the Center pole was in place. After a second setup it was very easy and quick. The material is superb and top quality. We had a horrific hail and thunder storm that lasted for at least 30 minutes. The tipi stood up to the pounding hail and insessant rain 100 %. I thought for sure there would be a few rips but was very impressed at the nylons robustness. No leaks what so ever even through I have not seam sealed the tipi yet. Very happy with the overall performance and excellent attention to detail. The large titanium stove is equally impressive. My kids loved the warmth of the tipi during the night and early morning. What a dream to sit in a warm tent. An excellent piece of gear, well made and very easy to set up. I had written in the first review that the stove pipe was a bit difficult to roll into the 8 foot section, however it has retained its memory as is very easy to set up now. I would suggest to start very slowly and have patience when you are attempting to roll it the first time. After the first burn the pipe will keeps its memory and roll so much easier afterwards.

Overall a very smart purchase and an excellent piece of gear! I still hold to a 10/10!

    4 Person Tipi Tent Bundle

Posted by Todd from Canada on 21st Jul 2016

Was eagerly awaiting the delivery of the 4 person tipi bundle and I was not disappointed! I did a lot of research on the Internet and YouTube. The Seek Outside tipi and stove fit my requirements for a light weight winter camping and summer backpacking outfit. The other companies have great products but their weight is just too heavy. I was very impressed when I received the tipi and stove. I have been backpacking for the past 40 years and have an eye for quality. Attention to detail outstanding, quality of material superb(nylon feels like silk, beautiful material), ease of set up, less than my two man MEC tent. I did purchase an additional liner as the bundle only comes with 1. You would think the bundle would come with a complete tent liner system. Seems pointless to have a double wall on only one side of the tipi for winter camping. Carbon fiber pole is gorgeous. Guideline loops plentiful. I also had the "no-see um netting" sewn in. Very impressed. All in all a very smart, quality purchase. As for the stove, the large is as small as I would go for a size. 8x8x14 is the minimum for size. The stove pipe was a bit difficult to set up. It did not roll into the 8 foot section as easily as I thought. Had to go very gently and slowly as the "foil" started to crease. Eventually got it rolled properly. Nested sections may be a better solution as I can see me loosing the wire reinforcements. Overall I give the bundle a 10/10. Well done guys!

    Compact Comfort

Posted by Sierra on 18th Feb 2016

I bought the 4 person hot tent bundle for my husband to use elk hunting in Idaho. We tried it out for the first time this past weekend on the Salmon River for a steelhead fishing trip and got rained on for 3 days. What could have been a wet and uncomfortable weekend, was made enjoyable by Seek Outside. No more sand and water pooling in the tub style tents we have had before and the liner helped limit condensation on the inside. The stove felt like a luxury to have going after a long day on the river. We can't wait to try it out in the mountains this fall!
