Dyneema® Fabric Tents and Tarps
Dyneema® is an incredibly strong fabric for its' weight. No other fabric matches the strength to weight ratio of Dyneema®. The major drawback to Dyneema® tents is cost, which is driven by the underlying fabric cost.
Aside from weight and cost, Dyneema® performs slightly differently than standard silnylon. Dyneema® has no stretch, which can improve performance in high winds, but also can stress staking systems and poles more than silnylon (silnylon stretches which can act as a shock absorber in rough winds).
Dyneema® Fabric
We use Ct2e.08 Dyneema® fabric, which is a 0.8 oz per yard fabric. Many other ultralight Dyneema® tent manufacturers use a 0.4 to 0.5 oz per yard fabric, which does not meet our durability and strength requirements.
Dyneema® is easier to repair than silnylon, and tears are very very hard to propagate - this helps a lot in durability of the fabric.
