The Cimarron is the classic pyramid shelter reimagined, strengthened, and redefined.  Carefully built from top quality, resilient 30 Denier Cordura Nylon, the Cimarron is the one shelter for all your human powered backcountry needs.  Capable of fitting four adults, and luxurious for two with lots of gear and a wood stove, the Cimarron pitches fast and easy, sheds weather, and will be a reliable companion for many years.

The Cimarron mountains are a group of rugged peaks in Southwestern Colorado, known for their terrific fall color, and exceptional trout fishing. The Cimarron river flows on the East side of the range into the Gunnison River which is famous for it's gold medal waters. Cimarron is also the Cheyenne word for "Wild" or "Wild One" and can also mean "Free Spirited".

Where will your Cimarron take you?

Requires 6 stakes, can use up to 10 (included).

If you want to use the Cimarron as a hot tent with one of our stoves, you will need a Stove Jack

For best results we recommend seam-sealing your tent, we include a tube of McNett Silnet with every tent and you can buy extra from us as well. You can do it at home or have us do it for you (adds 2-3 weeks).

Save by purchasing the Cimarron, carbon pole, and a medium stove as a bundle.

    FAQ:

Does the Cimarron have interior hang loops for drying ?

The method we prefer is a prusik knot on the pole for both drying heavy gear and attaching a nest. The prusik on a pole method is strong and secure.

Why doesn't the Cimarron have corner guy outs ?

The Cimarron is not a normal pyramid / mid shelter like others have produced before. It has slight shaping and a different seam construction that provides better seam integrity and less stretch at the corners. We do put guy outs where they make sense and provide a usability and performance benefit. In our testing, and due to the way the Cimarron is designed we feel corner guy out locations are a detriment not a benefit.

    Cimarron 360 Look Around:

Notes; Staged with 2 bags and packs arranged zipper to zipper orientation. Two can fit on each side of the pole if need be.

    1. Great shelter!

At first I was surprised to see such a small filled stuff sack inside the UPS packaged box. Once I got the Cimarron opened up and pitched in the backyard I was blown away! I was able to get it set up pretty quickly and was very impressed with the workmanship that went into this tipi style shelter. This was the first time I actually got to see and feel this item in person and was not disappointed. I can't wait to really break it in next month on my son's upcoming Cub Scout's camp out and some scouting trips. If I decide to upgrade to a bigger shelter I will be sticking with Seekoutside! Thanks again for this great product!!! on 16th Mar 2016

    2. Great product

Spent a week in Montana elk hunting this year with a buddy who has one. We had a nasty storm come through with extremely high winds and a complete downpour. Shelter preformed flawlessly and kept us dry the whole time. Condensation was a minor issue but that comes with any single wall lightweight shelter. on 31st Dec 2015

    3. Cimarron looks good so far

I received my Cimarron just in time for a horseback mule deer hunt. The weather was mild for October, so I really only tested for set-up, lay-out, roominess, weight, and door function. So far so good. Two guys with a small woodburner (would have to upgrade to include a stove jack) could use this tent in inclement weather and not go stir-crazy. Condensation may be an issue unless you purchased the nest which could function as a liner. Overall happy with ease of set-up and roominess and very light for the room provided. Doors provide more than enough ventilation/ease of entrance. Can't say how it would perform in wet weather, but if like the SO 8-man, shouldn't be a problem. on 24th Oct 2015

    4. Outperformed itself

Well to put it plain and simple, I have wanted a Kifaru tipi for about seven years. After finally getting ready to buy a new backpacking tent I started looking and everything that was "lightweight" was 4-7 pounds, would fit two people, and cost on average $350-$500. After hearing that I decided to go on my tipi search just for kicks and giggles, found this guy for $350 and was sold. With the pole and everything I'm weighing in at 2.8 pounds..... that is unreal. I am buying a 6 possibly an 8 man here this fall but for two people and 3 dogs this thing is a dream! Only thing that sucks is the condensation but like ANYTHING %100 waterproof it doesn't breathe so I went into buying this know that the rain won't come through but it may condensate a little and it is AWESOME! Thanks again guys for the awesome equipment! You will be seeing tons of pictures. on 29th May 2015
