Lightweight Backpacks / Integrated Platform / Gila

The Gila is purpose built for the quick overnight, day hike, or a longer trip for an experienced minimalist.  Featuring the same Seek Outside Suspension of our other packs, the Gila rides in comfort with light or heavy loads.  X-Pac construction eliminates the need for a rain cover, and the large side pockets and mesh face pocket provide ample organization for your gear.

The Gila Wilderness was the first designated wilderness area in the United States, receiving protection in 1924.  Like it's namesake, this backpack is built for the solitude & peace that you find in the lonely places.

All of our gear uses the best fabrics and materials we can source, is made in-house by experts at their craft, and is backed by our outstanding warranty.

Handmade in Grand Junction, Colorado, USA.

Gila Features:

  • Integrated Platform
  • Field Adjustable Frame Height
  • Rapid Adaptable Compression System (RACS)
  • Dynamic Belt System
  • X-Pac™ Fabric
  • Tapered main bag adapts to large loads, and rolls down to hug smaller loads.
  • Dimensional side pockets with shock cord closure.  Uncinch, access a bottle or snacks, and recinch with one hand on the fly.  Shock cord is user replaceable for long service life.
  • Rear mesh pocket for storage of wet or quick access items.
  • Six side compression straps
  • One over-the-top compression strap
  • Two bottom compression straps

  • Main pack bag is made of X-Pac™ waterproof material and features a waterproof rolltop closure.  Seam sealing the outside seams is recommended for exceptionally wet environments.
  • Waterproof stuff sacks are recommended for exceptionally rainy conditions, and drybags for submersion or severely wet conditions such as bushwacking or canyoneering.

Bear Cans:

  • Bear cans may be strapped on with lower compression straps

    Gila 3500

Elegant in its simplicity this versatile pack excels at everything from day hikes to 2-3 day Spring mountaineering trips to a loaner pack for a spouse or kids. I wanted a lightweight simple pack that could accommodate 50-80 LB sand bags that I use for training rucks. I used this pack for the Train To Hunt competitions I did this year. I was amazed at how well I could run with 50LB loaded in this pack. Perfect pack for my wife on summer backpacking trips too!

    Gila 3500

Ordered the Gila 3500 for a reasonably UL pack for backpacking, but with the capability to do more if ever called upon to do so. I've owned packs from many makers from commercial to custom tactical. The Gila is by far, the most comfortable I've owned. The build quality is above expectations. Fit and finish are above expectations. The integrated external frame, while I was unsure of it initially, turns out to be the clincher. Only criticism, is that Seek Outside should put a few videos up highlighting the frame alone and the concept behind the integration into the pack. There is far too little info on this wonderful feature. At no time did I feel like I had an external frame pack on. Highly recommended for a couple days camping/backpacking, or even a week long jaunt.
