Ultralight Tipis and Tents
Overview
Our lightweight tipi (tepee, teepee) VersaShelters ™ are extremely versatile and lightweight. These tipi style tents are large enough for use as a family backpacking tent and comfortable enough for extended base camps or car camping. Reviews of our tipis are available on our review and testimonial page. Our tipis are the only American made lightweight tipi that comes with these standard features:
- Sod Skirt
- Integrated Screen Door
- Adjustable Carbon Fiber Poles
- Storm Flaps covering the zippers

Construction Details
Our lightweight Tipi’s are made in the U.S.A using a U.S.A made lightweight silicone impregnated nylon ripstop fabric with UV inhibitors that is often referred to as SilNylon. All of our stress points are double reinforced using Cordura (tie outs) or Dyneema GridStop (peak). Zippers are YKK #8.
Fabric Choices and Colors:
Standard colors are Evergreen and Grizzly Brown. What colors we have available at any one time varies, depending on availability. Here are some general recommendations. Tent weights may vary an ounce or two depending on color.
Model Specifications:
All of our ultralight tipi VersaShelters are comfortably large. Our three person will sleep two comfortably with a stove and can fit four in a pinch without the stove. These are sleeping sizes though, longer term base camps usually sleep less and allow for more living space.

Weights are dependent on options. Weights are for the standard tipi with a full height zippered screen door and include the adjustable carbon fiber center pole, stake set as well as stuff sacks.

The Backcountry Shelter:
The Backcountry shelter is a unique ultra flexible hybrid tipi style tent / tarp. It includes most of the features of our larger tents (no screen door in base configurtion), but at a minimal size. and weight. If you need more size, just add the optional zip in door panel to increase the tent and add screen door capability.
